Backup Quickbooks - Why do I need to backup my Quickbooks data file?
Backing up your Quickbooks company data is a good idea, either to burnable media or BackupRight. Otherwise, if you loose your company file you will no longer have records of your business data and if you have paper copies you will need need to re-enter them - this can be very time consuming.
How do I backup my Quickbooks to CD or DVD?
Note: Quickbooks backup files have the extension of .qbb instead of the standard .qbw
- Step 1: Launch Quickbooks.
- Step 2: From the 'File' menu, select 'Back Up'.
- Step 3: In the 'Current Company' section on the 'Back Up Company File' tab, make sure that the correct company is displayed.
- Step 4: In the 'Back Up Current Company' section select 'Disk'.
- Step 5: Navigate to the location where you wish to save your backup file.
- Step 6: You can now burn the exported Quickbooks company file to CD or DVD.
Restoring your Quickbooks company backup file from CD or DVD
- Step 1: Launch Quickbooks.
- Step 2: From the 'File' menu, select 'Restore'.
- Step 3: Click the 'Browse' button and select the file you wish to restore from.
- Step 4: Click 'Open' to restore.
How do I backup my Quickbooks using BackupRight?
- Step 1: Launch BackupRight and login.
- Step 2: From the 'Backup Set' menu, select 'New' and then 'File Backup Set'.
- Step 3: In the 'Name' section enter 'Quickbooks Backup' and click 'Next'.
- Step 4: Navigate to the location where your Quickbooks is installed. Typically on Windows 'Program Files->Intuit'.
- Step 5: Check the box next to the 'Quickbooks' folder and click 'Next'.
- Step 6: In the 'Backup Schedule' area you can use the default and click 'Next' or customize your settings.
- Step 7: In the 'Encryption Setting' select 'Default' if you want to use your current encryption key and click 'Next'.
- Step 8: Click 'Finish' and relax.
Restoring your Quickbooks backup using BackupRight
- Step 1: Launch BackupRight and login.
- Step 2: From the 'Restore' menu and 'Select Restore Source', select 'Quickbooks Backup'.
- Step 3: In the 'Restore Source' section, check the box next to the first directory.
- Step 4: Click the 'Restore Files' button.
- Step 5: In the 'Restore Files' window select where you want the restored files to be saved.
- Step 6: Click 'Start'.
